How to Relax in front of the Camera!

Do you feel awkward or nervous having your photo taken?  Don’t worry! You’re not alone in this.  I for one get nervous every time I am in front of the camera versus being behind the camera.  Stepping in front of the camera can be intimidating especially if you’ve had a negative experience in the past.  Let me tell you…it gets easier the more you do it, and by having a positive photography experience!   

A good photographer will take you from a negative experience to having a positive one by bringing out your best! 

Here are some tips to help you prepare and to ensure you have a wonderful photography session:

  • Prepare for your photo session by familiarizing yourself with your photographer’s portfolio. This will give you an idea of how they capture people but also what type of poses to expect.

  • Choose clothing that compliments you in terms of style, fit, and color. Something that shows off your figure and makes you feel and look good! If you feel like you have to suck it in, or only like how you look from one angle, try something else and go shopping in your closet!

  • Treat yourself! To having your hair and makeup done professionally, and if you really want to splurge get a manicure! Every detail counts.

  • Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water. Not only will you feel better but it also enhances your skin and will bring out your natural glow!

  • Go in with an open mind and TRUST your photographer…not only can they relate but they care to bring out your best and help you feel relaxed, comfortable and confident! They will give you subtle guidance and direction on how to pose to make you look amazing!

  • Make a date out of it! Plan to go out for dinner afterwards. After all, you’re already looking your best…why not celebrate?

  • Remember to Have Fun!
